This marks my one week mark in the 30 for 30! The first week flew by, and I look forward to the next three. As you know, I'm home in VA this weekend. My mom decided to go shopping with me today because that's our typical mother-daughter outing of choice whenever we visit each other. It was SOOOOOO hard resisting the urge to buy stuff. We went to a couple of stores including Anthro. I saw an awesome hat, these adorable shorts, a bedazzled blazer, and a striped tee - all of which I loved and wanted. Don't worry, I left with some gifts - prepping for holiday - and a cookbook, nothing else. I'm trying to hold strong to my word!

  1. This is a cute outfit. I love your love for layering. Enjoy your weekend! :-)

  2. You are too cute! I just watched your video on u-tube about hair texture. I have the EXACT same hair as you!!! Until I started searching the net recently, I had never, EVER seen anybody with hair as kinky as mine, and I am a lot older than you :-). Although I had not seen hair like mine, like you I did not realize there were so many different natural textures. I'm trying to educate myself so that I can grow my hair out healthy. I have not permed for years, but I have had extensions and wore wigs b/c I did not want to take the time to deal with my hair, nor did I really know what to do with it. You are sooooo encouraging and I love your attitude. I hope that soon I will have as much confidence as you about my natural hair. I think once it grows out so I can do various styles I will like it better. Right now, it is about 8 inches long stretched, 1 inch after washing and I feel I look like a man. It's also thinner in the top and I am hoping when I start taking care of it, it will thicken. Not to intrude, but is there a place I can ask you questions about my hair as I go through this journey?

  3. Hi Phyllis, thank you! Send me an email at modhutch@gmail.com. I'll share what I know! Like I said in the vid, a lot of your hair acceptance will come from you changing the way you perceive your hair, I'm sure you can get to the point to love it, no matter what!

  4. Cutee, the skirt & scarf really make this outfit pop :-)
