- Eat fresh fruits and veggies
- Take a daily multivitamin
- Drink lots of water
- Wear twists or braids for 2-4 weeks at a time
- No direct heat
- Pre-poo with coconut oil for 20 minutes SS: I'm subbing coconut oil with Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose because my hair doesn't like coconut oil, and I checked with Loo ;-)
- No trimming
I came up with this updo based on a style I rocked when my dreads started getting longer when I was locking. This style has three flat twists in the back twisted towards the top of my head. I then twisted the ends from the three flat twists into one flat twist on the top of my head. I also did one additional flat twist in the front on one side. Then, I pinned the other side back. Hopefully this makes sense. If I find time, I'll make a video. The first week I wore my typical side-swoop low "bun" with bangs.
Are any of you participating in this challenge? PS - if you don't know about Loo - check her out, she has GORGEOUS HAIR and her blog is pretty cool too!
LOVE this updo! I have a party to go to tomorrow where I am the guest of honor and I am also doing Loo's challenge so I was at a loss for what to do. I'm gonna try and get this to work on my hair so I can come correct!
ReplyDeleteOh love your comment Camille!!
ReplyDeleteBack to commenting - I do love the updo and Loo's challenge (although I am not doing it but encouraging everyone who wants to see a change to do it because Loo is all about common sense advice!)
I'm LOVIN this updo too. Both of them! Your hair is so fabulous. @You and Camille: We can do it, ladies!! I'll have an update on Monday. :o)
ReplyDeleteP.S. :blushes: Thank you for the love!
Cute updo! I want to do the challenge, but my fine/thin hair makes scraggly twists. However, I'm doing everything else for her challenge and bunning as a protective style.
ReplyDeleteMo! You look adorable! Maybe I do like the locks on you...hmmm. Okay, so I really want to do this but I still have extensions in! grrr. Maybe i'll start mid Feb? Or is that cheating? LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDelete@ Erika - Loo is pretty nice, you could probably still join in late ;-)
This updo is fierce! I wish my hair was as thick/dense as yours so my twists would look good.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you're styling your twists.
ReplyDelete@anon - I feel your pain! I could do this style on my loose hair but these twists are just too thin and the style looks sad. I'll have to come up with something else for my party tonight.
ReplyDeleteI like this updo, your hair is nice and thick!
ReplyDeleteBlack is Beautiful and you are definitely proving it. I'm going to give this style a really hard try. You did GOOOOOD!

It's funny, I was looking for new styles and I have the EXACT same hair do right now! I love it, i'm going to take a few of the twists out tomorrow and wear it out for a few days
ReplyDeleteI have extremely fine hair but i have the sides of my hair in flat twists and it looks like if I pin them up you can't really tell because you are able to still get a good amount of twists.
