Life Accomplishment & Updates

When I first started blogging, I mentioned that I would write about food, hair, running, etc. because I wanted this site to be about holistic living.  Recently, I've slacked off on food & running and etcetera (whatever that was).  However for those of you who have been with me from the beginning, I am pleased to announce...

I completed my first OFFICIAL race on Sunday.  I ended up running an 8K (5 miles) in 47 minutes and 23 seconds, which means I averaged about 9 minutes and 30 seconds per mile!  This was a HUGE accomplishment for me.  I'm happy to say I did this.

As for hair, I just have holidays this week, so this means I can do an "out style," however, I signed up for Leila from BGLH's Winter Growth Challenge.  Although out would be cuter, protective is better.  Thus, I'm rocking my usual twist style with it styled to a side.  I pinned it in the back (as usual).

Peace & Blessings during this holiday week,
Monique

  1. I have been loving the ease of having mine blownout for the past week, but missing my curls.I wanted to sign up for the winter growth challenge, but I think I would buckle under the pressure:o) Congrats on your race, Great job!

  2. Congratulations girl! I am planning to run a 5K in January. Wow 5 miles in 47 minutes you go girl. *gasps for air* because that is exactly what I would have done crossing that finish line. I need to do a protective style and I am leaning more towards braids, but I think I may do a twist style and see if it lasts at least 2 weeks.

As for hair, I know I need to do a protective style for the winter months. I am not sure what I want to do I love playing with my hair, but thats exactly why I need to protect it so it can grow. Any style suggestions? I don't want to put extensions in my hair.

  4. @ Jeannine - Thanks, blownout is so much easier, but you do start to miss the curls!

@ Erica - Thank you too! I've found that I just don't like protective styles on my for longer than 1 week. Braids def last longer, but I'm a bigger fan of twists. Probably due to my thick-strand hair. Both have some good styling capabilities. GL!
